RESUMEN: En este artículo se presentan y se analizan las principales tendencias en el desarrollo de las lenguas del mundo en la época de la globalización, tales como profundización del desequilibrio en la distribución de lenguas, desaparición de lenguas, agudización de la lucha por el poder entre lenguas, surgimiento de interlenguas, cambios referentes a lenguas internacionales y artificiales, entre otras. Además, se determinan los factores que propician los cambios lingüísticos, el contexto socio – histórico en el cual éstos se producen y sus repercusiones en la vida social. Para tal fin, se recogió la información pertinente al tema a partir del análisis bibliográfico y de las fuentes electrónicas de la información. La metodología con la que se realizó el estudio de este fenómeno, es cualitativa e involucra los conceptos de la complejidad, la ecologidad, el sistema, la incertidumbre, la transdisciplinaridad y la incompletud. El aporte principal del trabajo, además de sistematizar y enriquecer la información referente al tema, consiste en la construcción de un puente conceptual entre los cambios lingüísticos y otros factores del conjunto globalizado, mediante el análisis e interpretación. ABSTRACT: This article presents and analyzes the main tendencies of language development in the era of globalization, such as the growing gap in the unbalanced distribution of languages, disappearance of languages, rising fight for power among languages, appearance of interlanguages, changes in international and artificial languages, among others. Besides, the article specifies the factors that bring about the linguistic changes, the socio – historic context in which they take place and their impact on social life. For that matter, information pertaining to the topic was gathered by means of the bibliographic analysis and from electronic sources of information. The methodology that was applied to the study of this phenomenon is qualitative and involves the concepts of complexity, ecology, system, uncertainty, transdisciplinarity and incompleteness. The major contribution of the study, besides systematizing and enriching the existing information on the topic, consists of the construction of a conceptual link between the linguistic changes and other factors of the globalized set, by means of their analysis and interpretation.
