Resumen
La población del estado Táchira (Venezuela) es beneficiaria de los aportes
ecológicos, socioculturales y económicos que brindan los humedales
altoandinos, lo que hace necesario el manejo sostenible de estos ecosistemas.
Esta investigación considera el sistema lagunar El Batallón-La Cimarroneradel
Parque Nacional General Juan Pablo Peñalozay su relación con las comunidades del Municipio Francisco de Miranda para definir y
caracterizar los humedales altoandinos y su vinculacióncon el ecosistema
de páramo, con el fin de delinear algunos aspectos económicos, sociales,
culturalese institucionales relacionados con las lagunas y los habitantes
del municipio,la forma como se ha ido construyendo esta relación, y los
beneficios que brindan a esta comunidad.La información presentada es
producto de la contrastación entre las observaciones de campo delos investigadores,
las entrevistas realizadas a personajes claves vinculados al
uso de las lagunas y la documentación existente sobre el tema. Entonces,
los humedales altoandinos tachirenses están vitalmente relacionados
con el ecosistemade páramo, donde se identificaron problemas como el
cambio climático, la ganadería, entre otros, y una relaciónhumana con los
humedales que varía desde lo mágico hasta lo concreto cuyos beneficios
sólo pueden mantenerse con un manejo conjunto entre gestores y comunidades

ecological, socio-cultural and economic factors that provide high Andean
wetlands, necessitating the sustainable management of these ecosystems.
This research take into account the Battalion lagoon system - The National
Park Cimarronera General Juan Pablo Peñaloza - and its relationship
with the communities of the Municipality Francisco de Miranda to define
and characterize the Andean wetlands and their link to the paramo
ecosystem, in order to delineate some economic, social, cultural and institutional
aspects linked with the lagoons and local inhabitants, the way
in which this relationship has been built, and the benefits they provide
to this community. The information presented is the result of the contrast
between the field observations of researchers, interviews with key figures
associated with the use of lagoon and existing literature on the subject.
So tachirenses high Andean wetlands are strongly related to the paramo
ecosystem, in which are identified problems such as climate change, livestock,
among others, and a human relationship with wetlands ranging
from the magical to the concrete benefits of which can only be maintained
with a joint management between managers and local communities.
