Health care for pregnant women in family health strategy: living conditions and use of oral health services

Resumen
Objective: Characterize the sociodemographic and utilization profile of oral health services for pregnant women linked to a Family Health Unit in Porto Alegre/Rio Grande do Sul. Methodology: The cross-sectional study and data collection through analysis of family medical records of pregnant women (data identification, about pregnancy, general health, socioeconomic, services utilization, women's health indicators and oral health). Sample consisted of 66 pregnant women in prenatal record, from January to December 2011. The study was approved by the Ethics Committee of the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul and Porto Alegre city hall. Results: The studied women were mostly young (15-24 years), married, housewife, with at least 8 years schooling, living in brick house, with garbage collection and public grid water supply. Most of the women had 1-3 pregnancies, did not initiate prenatal care in the first trimester and was not (performing regular prenatal). Regarding oral health, 86.4% of pregnant women scheduled dental appointment, but only 68.2% actually did the first consult. Only 6% of pregnant women who were treated did not required performing dental procedures. Conclusion: The pregnant women had access to oral health, but often not used the services offered. The strategies to early attract pregnant women for prenatal care should be established to try understand the problems those women are facing in their daily lives in the pursuit of your health. Objetivo: Caracterizar o perfil sociodemográfico e de utilização de serviços de saúde bucal em gestantes vinculadas a uma Unidade de Saúde da Família do município de Porto Alegre/Rio Grande do Sul. Metodologia: Estudo com delineamento transversal e coleta de dados por meio da análise dos prontuários de família das gestantes. Amostra foi composta por 66 gestantes cadastradas no pré-natal, de janeiro a dezembro de 2011. O estudo foi aprovado pelo Comitê de Ética em Pesquisa da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul e da Prefeitura Municipal de Porto Alegre. Resultados: As gestantes estudadas eram em sua maioria jovens (15 a 24 anos), casadas, do lar, com pelo menos 8 anos de estudo, que residiam em casa de tijolo, com coleta de lixo e abastecimento de água pela rede pública. A maior parte das gestantes teve de 1 a 3 gestações, não iniciou o pré-natal no 1º trimestre e não estava com o pré-natal em dia. Quanto à saúde bucal, 86,4% das gestantes agendaram consulta odontológica, porém 68,2% efetivamente realizaram a primeira consulta. Das gestantes que foram atendidas apenas 6% não necessitavam da realização de procedimentos odontológicos. Conclusão: Muitas gestantes tiveram acesso à saúde bucal, mas muitas vezes não utilizaram os serviços ofertados. As estratégias a serem desenvolvidas para captar mais precocemente as gestantes para o acompanhamento pré-natal devem ser estabelecidas procurando compreender os problemas que estas mulheres estão enfrentando em seu cotidiano na busca por sua saúde.
