dc.descriptionEl tema central del artículo es el de cómo, desde mediados del siglo XIX, la historiografía ha procurado explicar, en cuanto a pertenencia lingüística y étnica a las sociedades indígenas andinas, con especial énfasis en los aportes de Miguel Acosta Saignes, quien desde mediados del siglo XX, propuso una nueva visión para entender, bajo la categoría de áreas culturales, al conjunto de poblaciones indígenas venezolanas. Se trata de una temática abordada por lingüistas, historiadores y antropólogos, pero sin consenso entre las que han sido las propuestas más difundidas.

dc.descriptionThe central topic of the article is of how, from middle of the 19th century, the historiography has tried to explain, as for linguistic and ethnic belonging to the indigenous Andean companies, with special emphasis in Miguel Acosta Saignes contributions, who from middle of the 20th century, proposed a new vision to understand, under the category of cultural areas, the set of indigenous Venezuelan populations. It is a question of a subject matter approached by linguists, historians and anthropologists, but without consensus between those who have been the most spread offers.
