Resumen
The study is based on air-photograph interpretation, Landsat satellite image and field checking. The work presents to types of maps at regional scale of the río Salado basin in the Central Andes of Mendoza. One is a base map that shows the distribution and classificarion of historic and pre-historic mass-wasting processes (rockfall, slides, flows and complex); the other is a map of the hazard zones prone to instability classified into therr degrees of hazard, in order to provide a rational land-use planning. A relationship between severe reinfalls and the occurrence of rockfalls and flows was found,. In addition, a correlation beteen the lithology and certain types of landslide events as detected.
