El propósito de nuestro trabajo de grado de especialización es presentar el diseño de una cartilla con actividades para profesores donde se promueve el desarrollo de procesos de generalización de patrones geométricos y numéricos, desde el uso del Geoplano Cuadrado. Las actividades propuestas permiten identificar las etapas de generalización descritas por Radford (2003) promoviendo el uso del Geoplano como mediador para potenciar el proceso de generalización en los estudiantes. Para el diseño de la cartilla se presenta el pilotaje de una de las actividades con el fin de identificar la pertinencia de ésta en relación con el proceso de generalización. El Geoplano y en particular el Geoplano Cuadrado, tiene en este trabajo un enfoque distinto al tradicional, puesto que su uso no radica en la enseñanza de conceptos geométricos sino en la presentación de patrones que permitan generalizar usando conteo, registro de regularidades y patrones. De esta manera se incorporan en la propuesta elementos tales como, el uso de material didáctico, procesos de generalización y la ayuda a los profesores para promover el desarrollo de pensamiento matemático en sus estudiantes.
