Violências fundadoras: o Pontal do Paranapanema entre 1850 e 1930

Abstract

Este trabalho tem por objetivo central entender o cenário de violência que correlaciona, em uma mesma totalidade histórica, grilagem de terras, destruição das matas, dizimação das populações indígenas e expulsão de posseiros, durante a ocupação inicial do Pontal do Paranapanema, entre 1850 e 1930. Para este fim, baseia-se em um conjunto de fontes bastante variado, tais como relatos de viagem, dados geográficos e estatísticos da região.

Based on travellers' reports as well as geographical and statistical information this paper aims mainly at grasping the scenery of violence which correlates to seizing land, destroying forests, decimating the native population and last but not least evicting landless country-dwellers while occupying the land in Pontal do Paranapanema between 1850-1930.
