Safety Considerations for Biotechnology. Scale-Up of Micro-Organisms as Biofertilizers

Abstract

The publication again addresses the question of the environmental safety of the scale-up of micro-organisms developed by bitechnology for use as biofertilisers. It describes how the concept of familiarity, with micro-organisms as biofertilizers, the introduced trait, the environment, and their interactions, will help facilitate risk/safety analysis and manage possible reisks in the context of scaling up modified micro-organisms towards commercial release.
