This report admitted: "Use of Ciprofloxacin 500mg orally in the outpatient clinics of the National Hospital Edgardo Rebagliati Martins - EsSALUD, August 2007 - January 2008" is a descriptive, retrospective and cross section whose general objective is to determine the characteristics of Ciprofloxacin 500mg oral use in the outpatient clinic of the Hospital Nacional Edgardo Rebagliati Martins. The study population consisted of the computer record Prescription Ciprofloxacin 500mg orally treated at the outpatient clinic from August 1, 2007 to February 31, 2008. Data were extracted from the database management system Hospital outpatient pharmacies 1 and 2, plus recipes for patients in the outpatient clinic. The monthly consumption of 500 mg oral ciprofloxacin in the outpatient clinics of HNERM was higher in the month of October to 92.11 DDD / four beds per day (20.6%), followed by the month of September to 92.06 DDD / four beds per day (19.7% ) semiannual consumption, consumption of Ciprofloxacin 500mg oral semester in each of HNERM outpatient, was for Pneumology with 30.7 DDD / four beds per day, followed by urology clinic with 18.7 DDD / four beds per day, the percentage of prescriptions Ciprofloxacin 500mg by age group was higher in the group between 50-59 years with 23.9%, followed by the group between 40-49 years with 22.3%, the pathologies most prescribed oral Ciprofloxacin 500mg were: lower respiratory tract infections (24.13%), urinary tract infections (22.7%) and infections of skin and soft tissue (17.13%), 67% of prescriptions for Ciprofloxacin 500mg oral HNERM external clinics had adequate treatment, while 33% of these were not adequateEl presente informe de internado: “Uso del Ciprofloxacino 500mg oral en los consultorios externos del hospital Nacional Edgardo Rebagliati Martins – EsSALUD, agosto 2007- enero 2008”, es un estudio descriptivo, retrospectivo y de corte transversal cuyo Objetivo General es Determinar las características de uso del Ciprofloxacino 500mg oral en los consultorios externos del Hospital Nacional Edgardo Rebagliati Martins. La población de estudio estuvo constituido por el registro computarizado con prescripción de Ciprofloxacino 500mg oral atendido en los consultorios externos a partir del 01 de Agosto del 2007 al 31 de Febrero del 2008. Los datos fueron extraídos de la base de datos del Sistema de Gestión Hospitalaria de las farmacias de consulta externa 1 y 2, además de las recetas de los pacientes atendidos en los consultorios externos. El consumo mensual de Ciprofloxacino 500mg oral en los consultorios externos del HNERM, fue mayor en el mes de Octubre con 92.11 DDD/habit./día (20.6%), seguido del mes de Setiembre con 92.06 DDD/habit./día (19.7%) del consumo semestral; el consumo semestral de Ciprofloxacino 500mg oral en cada consultorio externo del HNERM, fue para Neumología con 30.7 DDD/habit./día, seguido del consultorio de Urología con 18.7 DDD/habit./día; el porcentaje de prescripciones de Ciprofloxacino 500mg según grupo etáreo fue mayor en el grupo comprendido entre 50-59 años con 23.9%, seguido del grupo comprendido entre 40-49 años con 22.3%; las patologías de mayor prescripción de Ciprofloxacino 500mg oral fueron: Infecciones del tracto respiratorio inferior (24.13%), Infecciones del tracto urinario (22.7%) e Infecciones de piel y tejidos blandos (17.13%); el 67% de las prescripciones de Ciprofloxacino 500mg oral en los consultorios externos del HNERM tuvieron tratamiento adecuado, mientras que el 33% de estas no fueron adecuadas
