It is related to certain auditory skills, such as speech in noise recognition. HINT test allows the measurement of the Speech/Noise ratio and it's been applied in normal hearing in different languages, to stablish the normal standards. It was adapted for the Portuguese language, however, in the national literature, there are no studies establishing these parameters for the child population, which could aid in the diagnosis of children with auditory processing complaints. Objective: To Analyze the performance of normal hearing, from 8 to 10 years, in speech recognition tasks, in quiet and in noise, by using the HINT test. Method: There were evaluated 60 school children, aged 8 and 10 years, male and female, without hearing and school complaints, and results within the normal range in the basic audiological evaluation and dichotic of digits test. The HINT Brazil-test was applied with the use of headphones. 4 lists were applied with 20 sentences each and searched the Speech/Noise ratio under the conditions Front Noise, Right Noise and Left Noise. The software calculated the Composite Noise, which corresponds to the weighted average of the tested conditions. Results: There was no statistically significant difference between the ears, nor between genders. Between the ages, there was a statistically significant difference, for the age of 8 and 10 years, in test conditions with noise and for the Composite Noise, and the age of 10 years showed better performance than the age of 8; the age of 9 years showed no statistically significant difference with other age ranges. We suggest the Average and Standard Deviation values of the Speech/Noise ratio, by considering the ages: 8 years: FN: -2,09 (±1,09); RN: -7,64 (±1,72); LN: -7,53 (±2,80); CN: -4,86 (±1,31); 9 years: FN: -2,82 (±0,74); RN: -8,49 (±2,24); LN: -8,41 (±1,75); CN: -5,63 (±1,02); 10 years: FN: -3,01 (±0,95); RN: -9,47 (±1,43); LN: -9,16 (±1,65); CN: -6,16 (±0,91). Conclusion: The HINT-Brazil test it is a simple and quick test, offering no difficulties in its use with normal hearing children without school complaints; the results do not show statistically significant differences between genders or between the ears, show it is an effective test for use with the age range evaluated Mestrado Saude da Criança e do Adolescente Mestra em Ciências 01-P-4346/2015 CAPES
