This work aims to raise discussions about the Brechtian theater. It begins with a process of contextualization of the life of German playwright in the midst of war, the establishing of the Weimar Republic and the rise of Nazism. To this end, it was used, at first, the historicizing of Brecht in his context, in order to understand the influence of Marxism in his political theater and how his theatrical theory echoed and still echoes in the critical formation of the working masses in their relationships towards the Capitalist mode of production. In a posterior moment it was studied the theoretical work of Brecht compared to the important educational issues to the playwright. This research does not address the aesthetic aspects of Brecht¿s work, but the rich thread of a work linked to the most urgent issues of the twentieth century. Because of the social influence of Brecht¿s texts and their potency, one may conclude that, even though he had written specifically didactic plays, all his work is educating, enabling, if well interpreted, the public to be aware of his historical and social context Mestrado Educação, Conhecimento, Linguagem e Arte Mestra em Educação 133764/2014-1 CNPQ
