Vista desse ângulo, a teoria social de Marx nos desafia constantemente à análise do novo Abstract: The study of the nuances of the role of abstraction in the formation of critical thinking of Karl Marx (1818-1883) suggests a bias on the complexity of the theoretical making from the autor. It can be seen that when comparing significant parts of his production of youth and maturity, this role gains new boundaries. Far from signifying a rupture, these new boundaries indicate a complexity of that role. Such complexity will characterize his reflection on the method of apreehending social reality, through which his diagnosis of modernity will become increasingly concrete. The critique of political economy, and the dialectical critique of Hegelian dialectics, appear as outcomes of his social research. Through these two critiques, the categories of political economy will not only be denied in its virtuality, but also systematically rebuilt and updated: the critique will focus on their social-historical forms and contents, in order to "synchronize them" over current determinations of the capitalist mode of production. This reconstruction, which presents itself in the form of system, tends to be denied in that the determinations of the capital and labor, which are designed in their generalities and reflexivities, tend to transform themselves. From the reading proposed here, the Marxian social theory appears, therefore, as a method of reconstruction of reality that occurs on the trial of thought that is determined according to its object, which is, in the case of the Grundrisse and The Capital (volumes I and II), the capital in general. Being the capital in general the synthesis of multiple determinations and being such determinations historically determined, such a category is mutable and must therefore be updated in every new historical and objective development of its determinations. Thus, the capital in general, as determined and synthetic abstraction, expresses the result of a effort of critical and ideal recomposition of the totality based on abstract and partial elements reflexively relatable. It is also in this sense a guide - just like the blinders of a horse that keeps it on the route to be followed - that requires of our theoretical look rigor and discipline to rebuilt and expose the new totality that hides itself behind the existing categorical representations. Seen from this angle, the social theory of Marx challenges us constantly to analyse the new Mestrado Sociologia Mestre em Sociologia 130720/2014-3 CNPQ
