Orientador: Ediógenes Aragão Santos Tese (doutorado) - Universidade Estadual de Campinas, Faculdade de Educação Resumo: Este texto analisa a história de vida de crianças e adolescentes, internadas em uma instituição disciplinar entre (1937 e 1950), no interior do estado de São Paulo, em Mogi Mirim. Meninas que tinham entre 11 e 18 anos e por serem abandonadas, órfãs ou infratoras, foram colocadas sob a guarda do Estado, que tinha o dever e a obrigação de zelar por suas integridades físicas. Ao longo dos três anos, em que viveram em uma instituição projetada para atender meninos, algumas adaptações foram realizadas, visando atender às necessidades femininas. O clima era de tensão, violência, repressão, submissão, baixa escolaridade e conflitos. Esta tese defende que no Instituto Feminino de Mogi Mirim foram desenvolvidas práticas pedagógicas repressivas e violentas. As crianças e adolescentes ali internadas, foram vítimas de preconceito, violência, maus-tratos, repressão por parte do Estado brasileiro, que impunha uma política de controle e de subserviência às camadas populares. Utilizo múltiplas fontes documentais, oficiais: prontuários, leis e normas que serão articuladas com a imprensa, anais de eventos que permitirá a análise das práticas de disciplinamento e de controle no interior do Instituto Feminino de Menores no período selecionado para a pesquisa (1937-1950) Abstract: This text analyzes the life history of children and adolescents, hospitalized in a disciplinary institution between (1937 and 1950), in the interior of the state of. In Mogi Mirim. Girls who were between the ages of 11 and 18 and were abandoned, orphaned, or found guilty, were placed under the custody of the state, which had the duty and obligation to watch over their physical integrity. During the three years in which they lived in an institution designed to attend boys, some adaptations were made, in order to meet the needs of women. The climate was one of tension, violence, repression, submission, low schooling and conflicts. This thesis argues that in the Women's Institute of Mogi Mirim educational practices were developed repressive and violent. The children and adolescents hospitalized there were victims of prejudice, violence, ill-treatment, repression by the Brazilian State, which imposed a policy of control and subservience to the popular strata. I use multiple documentary, official sources: medical records, laws and norms that will be articulated with the press, annals of events that will allow the analysis of disciplinary and control practices within the Women's Institute of Minors in the period selected for the research (1937-1950 ) Doutorado Filosofia e História da Educação Doutor em Educação
