Levando em consideração esses pressupostos e discutindo-os, este trabalho investiga de que modo o texto fragmentado de Ruffato consegue imprimir um narrador uno, que percorre a narrativa sem ceder à fragmentação do texto Abstract: There were many horses is a novel by Luiz Ruffato written through 69 fragments ranging from narratives to cuts of the city of São Paulo. Published in the year 2001, it brings many characteristics that have become recurrent in the Brazilian literary production of the 21st century, a period in which it is common to combine literature and social denunciation and in which the interest of the reading public overwhelmingly grows by the figure of the author. Taking these assumptions into account and discussing them, this work investigates how Ruffato's fragmented text succeeds in impressing a single narrator, who goes through the narrative without giving in to textual fragmentation Mestrado Teoria e Critica Literaria Mestra em Teoria e História Literária CAPES
