Resumen
Kilns used by the Brazilian clay industry in the production of bricks and tiles are oil-fired, With the energy crisis, studies were conducted on replacement of oil with firewood, but use of this material incurs economic and ecological problems, How ever, batch-fired kilns have now been modified to run solely on bagasse at a brick works. Tests show ed that burning bagasse of 50 % moisture content gave high energy efficiency and good air control throughout the cycle. Average fuel consumption was 0.4t/1000 bricks. 100 1189 16 20
