Resumen
Cleft lip and/or palate represent the most common congenital anomalies of the face. Aim: Describe the relation between non sindromic cleft lip and/or palate and sex and severity of the clef in Brazilian population. Methods: Conducted cross-sectional study, between the years 2009 and 2011, with a population of 366 patients. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics and using the multinomial logistic regression with an interval of 95% estimated the chances of the types of cleft lip and/or palate between sex. Results: Among the 366 cases of non sindromic cleft lip and/or palate, the more frequent clefts were cleft lip and palate, followed respectively by cleft lip and cleft palate. It is noted that cleft palate were more frequent in females, while the cleft lip and palate and cleft labial predominated in males. The risk of occurrence of cleft lip in relation the cleft palate was 2.19 times in males compared to females. While the risk of cleft lip and palate in relation cleft palate was 2.78 times in males compared to females. Conclusion: This study showed that there were differences in the distribution of the non sindromic cleft lip and/or palate between male and female. 78 5 116 120 Carinci, F., Scapoli, L., Palmieri, A., Zollino, I., Pezzetti, F., Human genetic factors in non syndromic cleft lip and palate: An update (2007) Int J Pediatr Otorhinolaryngol, 71 (10), pp. 1509-15019 Jugessur, A., Shi, M., Gjessing, H.K., Lie, R.T., Wilcox, A.J., Weinberg, C.R., Genetic determinants of facial clefting: Analysis of 357 candidate genes using two national cleft studies from Scandinavia (2009) PLoS ONE, 4 (4), pp. e5385 de Castro, M.L.L., Freitas, J.A., Grigolli, A.A., Prevalence of oral clefts from 1975 to 1994, Brazil (2001) Rev Saúde Pública, 35 (6), pp. 571-575 Martelli-Junior, H., Porto, L.V., Martelli, D.R., Bonan, P.R., Freitas, A.B., della Coletta, R., Prevalence of nonsyndromic oral clefts in a reference hospital in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil, between 2000-2005 (2007) Braz Oral Res, 21 (4), pp. 314-317 Nunes, L.M.N., Queluz, D.P., Pereira, A.C., Prevalência de fissuras labiopalatais no município de Campos dos Goytacazes-RJ, 1999-2004 (2007) Rev Bras Epidemiol, 10 (1), pp. 109-116 Rodrigues, K., Sena, M.F., Roncalli, A.G., Ferreira, M.A., Prevalence of orofacial clefts and social factors in Brazil (2009) Braz Oral Res, 23 (1), pp. 38-42 Mossey, P.A., Little, J., Munger, R.G., Dixon, M.J., Shaw, W.C., Cleft lip and palate (2009) Lancet, 374 (9703), pp. 1773-1785 Dixon, M.J., Marazita, M.L., Beaty, H.T., Murray, J.C., Cleft lip and palate: Understanding genetic and environmental influences (2011) Nat Rev Genet, 12 (3), pp. 167-178 Ngai, C.W., Martin, W.L., Tonks, A., Wyldes, M.P., Kilby, M.D., Are isolated facial cleft lip and palate associated with increased perinatal mortality?
