Resumen
This study aimed to analyze the perceptions of parents of children with clubfoot regarding the Ponseti method of treatment, and identify aspects of treatment that families found most difficult. Thirty families of children with clubfoot were treated with the Ponseti method over a 4-year period, and questionnaires were distributed at the conclusion of treatment. The most difficult components of treatment were identified. However, these challenges did not impact treatment outcome negatively. We hypothesize that a strong physician-patient relationship and high levels of parental education may decrease perceived difficulties of treatment with the Ponseti method. © 2013 Wolters Kluwer Health | Lippincott Williams & Wilkins. 22 6 583 588 Morcuende, J.A., Congenital idiopathic clubfoot: Prevention of late deformity and disability by conservative treatment with the Ponseti technique (2009) Pediatr Ann, 35, pp. 128-130. , 132-136 Herzenberg, J.E., Radler, C., Bor, N., Ponseti versus traditional methods of casting for idiopathic clubfoot (2002) J Paediatr Orthop, 22, pp. 517-521 Morcuende, J.A., Dolan, L.A., Dietz, F.R., Ponseti, I.V., Radical reduction in the rate of extensive corrective surgery for clubfoot usin.
