In the present work, a 'Kraft' black liquor recovery boiler performance has been analyzed through computer simulation. The simulation consists in the solution of material and energy balance equations for the equipment using WinGEMS, a commercial simulator software. In order to validate the simulation results, it has been used operational variables and design parameters from the industrial unit of Celulose Nipo-Brasileira (CENIBRA) as input data for the simulator program. The recovery boiler unit was studied and its thermal efficiency as function of solid contents in the liquor investigated. It has been observed that an increase of 10% in steam generation is obtained when the solid contents is increased from 72% to 100%, the latter a hypothetical operational condition.
