Resumen
This research was conducted as a laboratory simulation in order to study the influence and mechanical properties of a 0.04 percent C, 1.5 percent Mn, 0.04 percent Nb, 0.02 percent Ti steel with and without boron addition. The experimental results indicated that the rolling temperature does not affect significantly the mechanical properties, and the total deformation contributes strongly for toughness preservation. Furthermore, an increase in the cooling rate and a reduction on the cooling temperature improved the tensile properties with no deleterious effect on toughness. Finally, the beneficial effect of boron addition on the mechanical properties was confirmed.
