The effects of copper content on mechanical properties of Al-6Zn-2Mg-XCu alloys subjected to monotonous tension have been studied. Three alloys with different copper contents (1. 0, 1. 6, and 2. 1%) were used while keeping constant other parameters such as: chemical composition, recrystallization degree, and grain size. All three alloys were solution-treated, stretched and aged in underaging, peak and overaging conditions. In general, the results demonstrated that the mechanical properties improved with increasing copper content. The fracture mechanisms is discussed as affected by the aging treatment using optical and scanning electron microscopy. 42 349 871 872, 874
