Resumen
The Valsalva maneuver (VM) has been used as a physiological test for evaluation of autonomie control of heart rate (HR). The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of aerobic physical training on the autonomie control of HR. The studied groups included: 11 sedentary men (S) and 10 long distance runners (LDR). The VOi (peak and at anaerobic threshold AT) Was directly (MMC - Sensormedics) obtained using a exercise test with a continuous protocol (ramp function) up to physical exhaustion. The VM was performed at rest condition in the supine (SP) and in the tilted position (TP - after 15 min of head-up tilting). The instantaneous HR was measured using a cardiotachometer triggered by the R wave of ECG signal. The results (medians) were: resting HR(bpm): 72(S), 57(LDR) (p<0.05); VOz at AT(ml/Kg/min): 23.2(S), 41(LDR) (p<0.05); Vft peak(ml/Kg/min): 38.3(S), 66.6(LDR) (p<0.05). In the VM the values (medians) of AHR 015seg(bpm) were: 7(S) and 14(LDR) for SP, 22(S) and 2S(LDR) for TP (p<0.05 between SP and TP). These data have shown that in spite of the occurrence of striking cardiorespiratory adaptations in the trained group, they were not accompanied by autonomie changes induced by VM.
