The objetive of the study is to describe the mays that the Indian specialists obtain and define their apprenticeship and work in the Husteca communities. Between the teenek and nahuas exist different causes and ways for an individual to find itself sick, dying or bewitched. The ideology that operates for this explication and the concepts of sickness, spin around in turns of the harmony established between the human beings, the nature, the spirits that live in the sacred places and the gods. When this relationship breaks, the individual loses it’s balance and gets sick. In this context, the role of the curandero is to reestablish the lost balance.El objetivo del estudio es describir las formas como los especialistas indígenas adquieren y definen su aprendizaje y trabajo en las comunidades huastecas. Entre los teenek y nahuas existen diferentes causas y formas para que un individuo se encuentre enfermo, moribundo, embrujado o hechizado. La ideología que opera para la explicación y los conceptos de enfermedad gira en torno de la armonía establecida entre los seres humanos, la naturaleza y los espíritus que habitan los lugares sagrados. Cuando dicha relación se rompe, el individuo pierde ese equilibrio y se enferma. Dentro de este contexto el papel del curandero es restablecer el equilibrio perdido.
