Resumen
The author begins with the background to the international monetary system established under the 1945 Bretton Woods Agreements that produced the systems two key institutions, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank for Reconstruction and Development (WBRD). These institutions are rigorously examined and criticized in light of the circumstances, events and results that have deprived them of their original aims, while granting them ever more power in favor of a few nations (groups of the five, seven or ten most highly industrialized, richest and most powerful countries).
