Conocimientos y creencias sobre la Vasectomía en usuarios consulta externa, Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso, 2017

Antecedentes: la anticoncepción generalmente en la pareja está a cargo de la mujer, por las características socioculturales del país esta realidad ha venido aumentando, con el simple hecho de la mayor demanda de métodos de planificación; según la BBC y un Informe Mundial de la ONU la relación de vasectomía/tubectomía en países desarrollados es de 5,3% a 8,4% y en países en desarrollo es de 1.9% a 20,6% (1).
Objetivo general: Determinar los conocimientos y creencias sobre vasectomía en usuarios consulta externa, "Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso" Cuenca, 2017
Métodos: Se realizó un estudio cuantitativo descriptivo de corte transversal, en la consulta externa del Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso, con una muestra de 116 pacientes del sexo masculino de entre 18 y 50 años de edad; a quienes se les aplico un cuestionario Mexicano modificado, la información recolectada fue tabulada y procesada en el paquete estadístico SPSS versión 23, siendo finalmente presentados los resultados en tablas y gráficos de frecuencia.
Resultados: Los pacientes tienen una edad media de 30 ± 8 años, solteros (37,9%), con una educación secundaria (44,8%), además la religión católica fue la prevalente (77,6%) y la mayor parte tiene un hijo; el 42,2% menciona el tiempo adecuado que debe usar preservativo, y las opiniones son dividas sobre la finalidad de los espermatozoides; el 33,6% de pacientes cree que la vasectomía genera efectos secundarios y que puede afectar de alguna manera su condición sexual, así el 29,3% de pacientes cree quedar impotente; el 25% piensa que este procedimiento puede afectar a la erección, la eyaculación y el orgasmo; la mayoría apunta que la edad para realizarse la vasectomía es cuando la pareja tenga paridad satisfecha (38,8%).
Conclusiones: El 77,6% de los pacientes tienen conocimientos básicos sobre la vasectomía, el 33,6% de pacientes creen que la vasectomía genera efectos secundarios y que puede afectar de alguna manera su condición sexual disminuyendo su participación en la planificación familiar y dejando como responsabilidad únicamente a la mujer Background: contraception is usually carried out by the couple, due to the sociocultural characteristics of the country, this reality has been increasing, with the simple fact of the greater demand for planning methods; according to the BBC and a UN World Report the ratio of vasectomy / tubectomy in developed countries is 5.3% to 8.4% and in developing countries it is 1.9% to 20.6% (1).

Methods: A quantitative, cross-sectional study was carried out at the outpatient clinic of the Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital, with a sample of 116 male patients between 18 and 50 years of age; to whom a modified Mexican questionnaire was applied, the information collected was tabulated and processed in the statistical package SPSS version 23, and the results were finally presented in tables and graphs of frequency.
Results: Patients had a mean age of 30 ± 8 years, single (37.9%), with a secondary education (44.8%), the Catholic religion was the most prevalent (77.6%) and most has a son; 42.2% mentions the right time to use a condom, and opinions are divided over the purpose of sperm; 33.6% of patients believe that the vasectomy generates side effects and that it can affect in some way their sexual condition, thus 29.3% of patients believe to be impotent; 25% think that this procedure can affect erection, ejaculation and orgasm; the majority point out that the age to perform the vasectomy is when the couple has parity satisfied (38.8%).
