Resumen
This paper is the product of a larger research that has as one of its objectives to produce an
authorized bibliography on ethics, politics, epistemology and information, and critical studies of this
bibliography. Its main issue is how information was thought by reference philosophers in these areas, and how their thought were appropriated by Information Science. Methodologically, it is a
bibliographical and documental compared research. It crosses significant theoretical references of
philosophy, specifically of moral philosophy, political philosophy and philosophy of science, and of
information science, on ethics, politics and epistemology, and analyzes the intersections. In this article,
we sought to identify and discuss the presence of Marx, Gramsci and Lukacs in the annals of Work
groups 1, 2 and 5 of ENANCIB, as well as in some of the main Brazilian journals in Information
Science, Transinformação, Perspectivas em Ciência da Informação, Informação e Sociedade and
Ciência da Informação, the later Qualis A2, the formers Qualis A1. Marx, because he is an
universally recognized reference in the very foundation of the social sciences, the other two being
among the most influential representatives of the theoretical tradition inaugurated by Marx, either in
political philosophy, whether in epistemology. We add that the work of all of them is crossed by
reflections on ethics, although this is not obvious. We discovered that the three listed authors are
nearly, or completely ignored among us. We explore the hypothesis that this is due to a certain
technicistic and technocratic tradition of information science, of positivist and neoliberal matrix.
Among its critical references, on the other hand, we read well Bourdieu, Foucault, Deleuze and
Frohman (Schneider e Vieira, 2014), authors identified with structuralism and post-structuralism,
schools that were born, so to speak, precisely in a critical dialogue with the Marxian thought.
Marx, por ser referência universalmente reconhecida na própria fundação das ciências sociais;
