Resumen
The relationship between body adiposity and blood pressure disorders in adolescents attending
to José Luis Tamayo Health Center in Santa Elena province was analyzed. This research is
descriptive and cross-sectional study, with 50 adolescent who visited an outpatient medical
examination, chosen according to inclusion and exclusion criteria. A nutritional survey was
applied, also they were assessed by means of taking blood pressure, anthropometric
measurement such as: waist-height ratio, Index Body Mass and (IBM) as well as a Bioelectrical
impedance analysis to determine the body fat percentage., a IBM SPSS 24 program was used in
order to analyze the relationship between the variables, with a 95% of reliability and with a
significance level of 0.05. The Pearson correlation between the variables and arterial
hypertension were determined. As a result, 32% is overweight or obese according to IBM, 44%
with waist-height ratio is equal to or greater than 0,5 and 34% with a higher percentage of body
fat. There is correlation between the above-mentioned variables and arterial hypertension and a
Pearson correlation more entrenched with body fat of 0, 91. It is concluded that there is a
positive and direct correlation between Index Body Mass, body fat percentage and waist-height
ratio with a presence of arterial hypertension. It is recommended to include these variables for
determining the nutritional status of adolescents.
