Resumen
A non-experimental research, cross type, applied to nutritional status and its relationship with academic performance in 68 school children in the San Juan Bosco school in Chunchi Canton. The evaluation variables, general characteristics, evaluation of nutritional status, academic performance. Data were tabulated using Microsoft Excel and JMP5.1 software. The results were: 50% female and 50% male, aged between 10-14 years. 61.8% are basic seventh grade while 38.2% belongs to basic sixth. 55.9% had low socioeconomic status, 27.9% average, 16.2% high. The 22.1% of the individuals were overweight, 2.9% have mild malnutrition, and 75% is within normal parameters. Hemoglobin: 80% are within normal, 14.7% have a moderate anemia and 4.4% have a mild anemia. 48.5% academic performance has a good performance, 11.7% presented a very good performance while 38.7% have a regular performance. It was found that there is a 14.71% chance of finding children with good academic performance has detriment facing a 1.47% chance of finding children with very good academic performance. Develop and educational program within the institution with children, teachers and parents with issues of food and nutritional to help improve academic performance and nutritional status of children.
