Resumen
The research present the feasibility study for the commercialization of vacuum - packed guinea
pigs from the "Sembrando Vida" Association, located in Pastocalle, Latacunga Canton. The
qualitative designs was the methodology used in the order to analyse the behaviour of the
consumers towards the vacuum packed guinea pig meat as well as its impact generated on them.
On the hand, the quantitative design was followed to process the collected data for both,
mathematical and statistical analysis. Technical tools such as market research, technical analysis,
and financial analysis, were useful for decision – making. The finding of the survey reported that
79.92% of the population consume guinea pig meat, while, a 95.70% stated their acceptance for
the vacuum-packaging. In the first year, the plant produces 4,904 vacuum-packed carcasses.
Regarding to the initial investment, an amount of $105.277, 80, will be required to finance the
project. From this investment, a 70.86% represents fixed assets and 25.24% represents working
capital. The internal rate of return (IRR) is 21.39%, which is higher than the minimal acceptable
rate of return (MARR) which is 11.60%, On the other hand, the net present value (NPV) is
$ 61,265,99, which is higher than 0, consecutively, the cost benefit (C/B) ratio is 1.58, which is
higher than 1; the capital recovery period (CRP) is by 3 years and 7 months, which confirms the
sustainability and feasibility of this project.
