Resumen
In the laboratory of fibers and wool of Livestock Sciences Faculty in Escuela Superior Politecnica de Chimborazo, the implementation of a mechanical prototype was carried out for sheep wool cleaning, in order to validate the equipment, to validate the equipment, 5 samples of wool were mechanically cleaned and compared with the manual form, using a descriptive statistic. When designing and constructing the machine to carry out the sheep wool cleaning, students’ knowledge was enriched by interrelating the theoretical part with the practice. The efficiency of the machine of wool cleaning to be of 92 %, allows us to estimate that the technology applied in its construction is the correct one and the results that are obtained in the process of wool cleaning not only sheep but of other species, that will be the adequate to guarantee its use in the making of the finest garments. The physical and sensorial results of the wool cleaning in the mechanical prototype validate its design, as it achieves a greater elongation (59,50%) percentage of imperfection removed (84,40%) and of course, a sight qualification (4,60 Points), purity (4,60 Points), and touch (4,60 Points). The costs of construction of the mechanical prototype were US $ 2,580, which when compared to equipment preforms of similar specifications are very low, and to be validate according to the results exposed can replicate them, to achieve the automation of a textile company
