Resumen
This research aims to: carry out geological studies to determine the causes of landslides next to the pipe line in the “hydroelectric project San Bartolo”, located in the parish of Copal, Santiago de Mendez Canton, province of Morona Santiago, San Bartolo area. Relevant documentary research was used to collect and analyze documentation bibliographic such as maps, data, books, geological survey, rising topographical, followed by field research consisting of: Vertical Electrical Soundings (VES) the method for understanding the structure of subsoil indirectly, depending on the electrical resistivity, along with geotechnical surveys which were conducted with the aim of verifying the results obtained by vertical electrical sounding, reaching a total of 25 meters deep.
After obtaining the results of identified four types of geological correlations, which correspond to colluvial, residual shale altered to graphite and graphitic schist. In developing the geotechnical surveys established that possible solutions that allow the installation of the pipe in the trench while minimizing the risk of impairment to driving, mainly due to the soil slipped push could act on the pipe it will be analyzed. By analyzing slope stability factors sheds near the security unit, which provides that the slope is stable when the safety factor (SF) or more (1.50) was found in this way in a static state, this information is verified by the topographic control each of the pipelines.
