Resumen
The purpose of the research was: apply personal learning environments in students of first
semester of Biology and Chemistry of Universidad Nacional de Chimborazo (UNACH) for
developing the cognitive competencies from a systemic methodological approach. The design
of research was quasi-experimental and of applied type, where initially through surveys it was
diagnosed that 78,3% of students have got a medium level of digital competencies that
influence directly in a low level of cognitive competencies, and at the end of the research was
determined that students valued positively the creation and application of their own personal
learning environments (PLE’s) based on a systematic methodology that combines of hybrid
way the virtual classroom of the subject, the e-portfolio and the web 2.0 tools, conceptualized
and related about the Bloom’s Taxonomy. Through the data analysis an arithmetic mean was
obtained with best score to PLE-output regarding to PLE-input, being the difference of 29,261
points, equivalent in a high level of 69,6% of cognitive competencies development at the end
of academic period, this implies that PLE’s like methodology should be applied by the
students such in their academic performance as professional.
