Resumen
The present research is focused on the incidence of Algebraic Criteria for graphing rational
functions of second degree, applied to 21 students from Engineering School in
telecommunications and networks and 37 control and industrial networks, Computer
Science and Electronics Faculty. Some algebraic criteria was used to achieve the goal of
graphing rational functions of second grade that organize them in the following manner: first
calculated the domain and the image of the function, of the restrictions is obtained the
asymptotes; then the fundamental points which are divided into: the breakpoints with the
axes and the critical points; the signs of the function is evaluated and finally these results
are represented in the Cartesian plane. It is detected that the values of “y” that are included
in the ranges that make up the image, corresponding to the maximum or minimum of
function, no need of derive the function, their critical points are obtained. Applies a test of
two questions evaluated on ten points, students first semester before and after knowing the
new methodology and obtained that telecommunications students improve 58.33% and
control 50.73%, the new method positively influences students learning; It is suggested to
socialize the method with the teachers of mathematics of FIE.
