Mitigación de la contaminación del aire por material particulado y gases de combustión de automotores en el centro comercial de Riobamba.

Abstract

This work is monitored air pollution from vehicles on the business zone in the city of Riobamba concerning particulate matter PM 2,5 and internal combustion gases CO, NO, NO 2 and SO 2 to identify whether there is contamination higher than the norm and where appropriate to possible solutions involving t he institutions that have responsibility for control in order to implement a verificentro an d a Strategic Plan to reduce the harm caused by pollution caused by vehicles over time. With population growth, the economic situation and high growth of the Riobamba ́s city fleet, theoretically implies an increase in polluti on data is desired to determine the extent of contamination and the need to implement a Verificentro and implementing a strategic plan to control and reduce existing conta minants and preventing further air pollution in the future. This research through the experimental method condu cted in 2009, obtained data concerning air condition PM 2,5 and combustion gases emanating from the vehicles i n the Mall of Riobamba, taking as reference the Merce d Park, Sucre and La Condamine, determining the contamination and how these affect daily life of living beings that inhabit this zone and what to do to avoid these eff ects. It was this issue due to repeated citizens complaints of this business secto r Riobamba especially respiratory diseases who suffer continuously. Riobamba city must resolved immediately the problem of particulate matter pollution and preventive measures for pollution gases do not reach alarm levels with a culture of participation of all who are part of it, authoritie s and citizens. Perform control vehicular conditions through the cr eation of a verificentro who is in charge of the institutions have the responsibility vehicular traffic with an appropriate legal framework to enforcement of laws and regulati ons of environmental character.
