Resumen
The older adult is complex;
for this reason it is necessary to adequate the specific
methods and indicators, using the measurements guaranteeing the opportune
detection of the
different nutritional problems so as to facilitate the diet
-
therapeutic
interventions in both the nutrition field and public health
.
The objective was
analyzing the agreement of the different estimate measurements of stature applied
to the body mass index
calculus (IMC) in the evaluation of the nutritional status of
the older adults as well as developing a prediction formula of the height based on
the present study data. The used method was not experimental, cross
-
sectioned
type, with 75 older adults from
the Hogar de Ancianos of Riobamba city whose
measurements were taken as to weight, measured height, MB, ATR calculating
IMC for each height; for the analysis the Program JMP 5.1 was used.
The following results were generated: considering the relationshi
p between the
calculated height and the different segments, a higher significant correlation was
evident between measured height and calculated height ATR which obtained an r
2
equal to 0.883. Using the multiple regression method three models were obtained
an r
2
= 0.922 as compared to the other models.
It is concluded that in the relationship between calculated height and the different
segments such as MB, ATR, measured height there is a statistical significant
difference and upon developing a prediction f
ormula in this is age group there has
been a contribution to science.
