Resumen
The study referred to the Hospital Malnutrition: ELAN-Ecuador, in the Hospital
Luis Gabriel Dávila at the Tulcán city, Carchi Province. 2011. A systematic random design type in 150 patients over 18 years, with more than 24 hours of hospitalization was performed. For data collection, two types of surveys were used: the subjective global assessment and the clinical nutrition survey with an informed consent signed of the patients. The results were analyzed in the program JMP 5.1.
The results of the 150 patients between 18 to 92 years were female gender in
57.3% male in 42.6%. It was found a relationship between poor nutritional assessment in clinical and surgical areas, with a p <0.000. With severely malnourished patients over 72.8 years it was obtained a p <0.000. There was a
relationship between days of fasting and nutritional status at p <0.05 and poor
nutritional status assessment of 65.1% and 34.2% on regular basis. It was concluded that the hospital counted with equipment and personnel to perform anthropometric data, the same as they are not fulfilled. There was not qualified to perform a good nutritional assessment so that patients did not have adequate care neither records of these tasks were found. It is recommended to seek professional nutritionists to decrease nutritional risk, and it is suggested the team of staff nurses are trained to the proper performance of demographics and their proper registration.
