Resumen
This research was carried out with the purpose of designing a water purification plant in the Ainche Community of the Chambo Canton, province of Chimborazo. With the help of the sampling method, 4 samples collected per month were determined for subsequent primary characterization corresponding to the physicochemical and microbiological analysis of water, using gravimetric, volumetric and instrumental techniques. Portable kits for in situ analysis recommended by Standard Methods were used, as well as materials and equipment from the analysis laboratory for the quantitative determination of each parameter. The average results obtained indicate some parameters with values of 1.96 UNT for turbidity, 0.03 mg/L for fluorides, 1100 CFU/100mL for total coliforms, 640 CFU/100mL for fecal coliforms for the water collected. Based on these results, an adequate treatment system was chosen, obtaining values of 0.7 UNT for turbidity, absence of CFU/100mL for total coliforms and absence of CFU/100mL of fecal coliforms for treated water, conditions established in Ecuadorian Technical Standard NTE INEN 1108:2006 Second Revision "Drinking Water. Requirements". An appropriate water purification system was designed with a three-stage sequence: laminar sedimentation, slow sand filtration, and disinfection. It is hoped that the authorities on duty will implement the study to improve the quality of life of the inhabitants of the Ainche Community, thus guaranteeing the consumption of this resource.
