Resumen
This research work is about the implementation of a didactic bench created in order to show how the components of the air conditioning system work in the Hyundai Accent Automobile. It allows simulating failures, testing different working status, and charging and discharging gas or coolant. Some practice and equipment maintenance guides have been elaborated for this aim. The equipment was built considering the collected information and according to the compressor, evaporator, and condenser dimensions. It was made with a metallic base and MDF. It contains a battery charger, a 12 volt battery, manometers, an expansion valve, a blower, temperature sensors, switches that simulate the most common failures, and, for the whole system control, electric circuits. All the elements create a conventional air conditioning system for a car that is real and didactic. It works with a 2 HP electric motor to replace the torsion that the crank shaft pulley does towards the compressor pulley by means of a band. The operating principle of an Air Conditioning system is the compression and expansion of a gas with some special characteristics: R – 134a or R12. The particularity of this gas is that it must be within the low pressure: 20 – 25 psi, and high pressure: 175 – 250 psi. This practice and training tool requires rigorous preventive maintenance to all the elements of the dash board. It should follow the operator° s manual so that it stays in optimal conditions and it reaches an adequate life span.
