Resumen
In this research, a cosmetic cream with exfoliating activity based on triterpenic saponins from quinoa (Chenopodiumquinoawilld) was prepared with funding from the National Autonomous Institute of Agricultural Research (INIAP), Santa Catalina experimental station in the canton of Mejia, province of Pichincha. An experimental method was employed using the quinoa debittering water as a waste by-product containing saponins for the preparation of the cosmetic cream, then quality control and accelerated stability control was carried out by aging the product in a maturation chamber using physicochemical methods using a viscometer to determine viscosity, pH meter for pH measurements and spectrophotometer to determine the shelf life, checking the concentration of saponins in the cream, supported by microbiological analysis using petrifilm plates and laminar flow chamber. The saponin content in the cream was found to be 40.5±4.0 %; in the quality control we obtained results such as: viscosity of 139 Centipoises (Cp), pH of 5.67±0.03 and extensibility of 15.3±0.55 millimeters (mm) while in the microbiological study of mesophilic aerobes, fungi and yeasts there was a total absence of colony forming units (CFU/g). The saponins present in quinoa have cleaning characteristics; they act as an active principle in the formulation and acquire an added value by replacing dehyquart as an excipient in the cream; as for the quality control of the finished product, it complies with the established specifications, recommending its use as an exfoliating agent for facial cleansing.
