Resumen
The preparation of rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis) shampoo with anti Malassezia globosa activity on a pilot scale was carried out in the phytochemistry, unitary processes and microbiology laboratories of the Faculty of Sciences, using the deductive scientific method. The extraction of rosemary oil was obtained by hydrodistillation giving 16L of hydrodistillate with a yield of 1.8% of essential oil, active substance for Pityriasis capitis (dandruff), was determined with thin layer chromatography, run on silica gel plates with toluene-ethyl acetate 97:3 revealed with vanillin sulfuric acid resulting in an Rf of 0.39. The quality controls of the raw material determined that 4.5Kg of Texapon, 0.45Kg of Cetiol, 1,125Kg of Euperland, 1.125Kg of Coperland, 1.12 Kg of sodium chloride, 28.24mL of Bronidox, 2mL of rosemary essential oil per 40L of shampoo were needed. The shampoo quality analyses indicate the ANOVA test of the batch factor at three levels (L1, L2, L3) at accelerated conditions 40±2ºC and 70% ±5% relative humidity with a confidence level of 95%, all values are greater than 0.05, which indicates that there is no significant difference between the three batches analyzed. This pilot scale production has a 47% profit since each shampoo costs $1.33 to produce and sells for $2.50, so its production is profitable. I conclude that the pilot scale rosemary anti-dandruff shampoo meets the physical, chemical and microbiological characteristics established for pilot scale production and can be taken to a larger scale. The use of this shampoo is recommended for one day to eliminate dandruff related problems as it has been proven to be effective.
