Resumen
Oral Candidiasis is a common opportunistic infection in healthy and immunocompromised individuals. Dentifrices may contain inhibitory agents for in vitro colonization and plaque formation by Candida spp. Faced with these, the study objectives are proposed, Evaluate the antimicrobial activity of three types of dentifrices on oral isolates of Candida spp carried out in the microbiology and bromatology laboratories of the Faculty of Sciences of the School of Biochemistry and Pharmacy in the Higher Polytechnic School of Chimborazo. The present investigative study was carried out using the Inductive-Deductive method. Strains of C. albicans, C. glabrata and C. albicans biofilm were used as biological material, in addition to 32 tubes of toothpastes classified based on their formula in Conventional, herbal and medicated. , plates and tubes of agra Saboraund. Conventional triclosan-based dentifrices inhibit better (a=0.05) the three species of Candida, the herbal ones were more effective than the medicated ones. Formulations C1, H5, M1, M6 with sodium fluoride showed no activity. Additionally, the frequency of compliance of the dentifrices with respect to the NTE INEN 1602 was determined. It was found that the requirements of tube extrusion, appearance and pH met all the dentifrices. Herbal and medicated conventional dentifrices showed non-compliance in 20-30% respectively. It was shown that triclosan, herbal extracts and fluorides act on Candida spp, controlling its potential cariogenic effect. Phytochemical research is recommended on the assessment of active and pharmacological components on possible adverse effects.
