A gene-derived SNP-based high resolution linkage map of carrot including the location of QTL conditioning root and leaf anthocyanin pigmentation
(BioMed Central, 2014-12)
Purple carrots accumulate large quantities of anthocyanins in their roots and leaves. These flavonoid pigments possess antioxidant activity and are implicated in providing health benefits. Informative, saturated linkage ...
QTL mapping of spike fertility index in bread wheat
(Brazilian Soc Plant Breeding, 2021-01)
Spike fertility index (SF) is a trait easily measured at maturity andstrongly associated with the number of grains per unit area. In order to identifygenomic regions involved in SF control, a biparental (Baguette 10 × Klein ...
QTL analysis of pasta quality using a composite microsatellite and SNP map of durum wheat
(Springer, 2008-11-09)
Bright yellow color, firmness and low cooking loss are important factors for the production of good-quality pasta products. However, the genetic factors underlying those traits are still poorly understood. To fill this gap ...
Maize nitrogen use efficiency: QTL mapping in a U.S. dent x argentine-caribbean flint rils population
(Maydica-ist Sper Cerealicoltur, 2018-03)
This study was aimed to identify quantitative trait loci (QTL) for nitrogen use efficiency(NUE) and related traits in a maize population derived from a cross between two lines with different genetic background (B100 and ...
Is the number of possible QTL for asymmetry phenotypes dependent on thermal stress?
(Pergamon-Elsevier Science Ltd, 2012-01)
In bilateral organisms, fluctuating asymmetry (FA) was often used as an index of developmental instability but FA was not always found to be higher in stressful environments. An intercontinental set of recombinant inbred ...
Multi-environment multi-QTL association mapping identifies disease resistance QTL in barley germplasm from Latin America
(Springer, 2014)
Diseases represent a major constraint for barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) production in Latin America. Spot blotch (caused by Cochliobolus sativus), stripe rust (caused by Puccinia striiformis f.sp. hordei) and leaf rust (caused ...
Seed dormancy QTL identification across a Sorghum bicolor segregating population
(Springer, 2016-05)
Pre-harvest sprouting (PHS) in Sorghum bicolor is one of the main constrains for its production in the central region of Argentina, as grain maturation often coincides with rainy or high environmental humidity conditions. ...
Genetic Mapping of Factors Affecting Quantitative Variation for Flowering in Sunflower
(American Society of Agronomy, 2000-03)
The number of days from seedling emergence to flowering (DTF) is a major consideration in sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) breeding because the maximum yield of the crop can only be achieved if the cultivars are phenologically adapted to the production environment. Identification of genetic factors that affect flowering could create opportunities for improved breeding methods and for more fundamental investigations of this important trait and its interactions with the environment. The objectives of this study were to locate quantitative trait loci (QTL) for DTF in an elite sunflower population evaluated in four environments. Two hundred thirty-five F2-generation plants and their F3 progeny of a single-cross population of two divergent inbred lines were evaluated in four environments (Fargo, ND and Venado Tuerto, Daireaux, and Balcarce in Argentina). Detection of QTL was facilitated with a genetic linkage map of 205 loci defined by restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) and composite interval mapping. Five QTL of five linkage groups accounted for 89% of the genetic variation for DTF. Gene action was additive at four QTL and dominant at the other locus. Three QTL were detected in all environments and generations. The parental effects and the relative magnitudes of the genetic effects of those QTL were consistent across generations and environments....
Ultra-High-Density QTL Marker Mapping for Seedling Photomorphogenesis Mediating Arabidopsis Establishment in Southern Patagonia
(Frontiers Media, 2021-07)
Arabidopsis thaliana shows a wide range of genetic and trait variation among wild accessions. Because of its unparalleled biological and genomic resources, Arabidopsis has a high potential for the identification of genes ...
Identification and validation of QTL for spike fertile floret and fruiting efficiencies in hexaploid wheat (Triticum aestivum L.)
(Springer, 2020-06)
The spike fruiting efciency (FE—grains per unit spike dry weight at anthesis, GN/SDW) is a promising trait to improve wheat yield potential. It depends on fertile foret efciency (fertile forets per unit SDW—FFE, FF/SDW) ...
