Resumen
Shown here is an image that plots the accumulated heat stress that corals in the Caribbean experienced in 2005 and compares it with the conditions in 2010. Reports indicated widespread bleaching. This satellite-based data uses sea surface temperature measurements to determine how many weeks of the year the coral were exposed to water temperatures that exceed conditions that they have traditionally been exposed to. Colors fading from white to deep pink indicate higher levels of heat stress, and greater potential for bleaching and mortality Educação Superior::Ciências Biológicas::Ecologia Educação Superior::Ciências Exatas e da Terra::Oceanografia
