Resumen
The scientific activities in research laboratories every day become more complex and
dangerous as they are conditioned by their own characteristics, which represent a
number of risks and consequences of origin varied, related primarily to facilities where
are made, the development of new technologies and the incorporation of new
chemicals
Regarding the latter must be taken into account which can be quite dangerous, but
usually used in small quantities and discontinuously. The objective of this study is to
identify chemical hazards to which workers in the laboratories of the Section of
Postgraduate Studies and Research (SEPI), National School of Medicine and
Homeopathy (ENMyH), they are exposed for what which conducted a situational
analysis, under the Modified situational Diagnosis method (Lopez, 2009), based on the
basic components of risk assessment "Risk assessment" (NAS, 1983).
Key substances were found as are acrylamide, ethidium bromide, acetic acid,
hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, which represents a particular risk to workers who
operate in such laboratories, displays information about its characteristics, and
indicators describing the exposure to these substances, and how to manage the risks
found.
Listed substances were found represent a special risk to the health of workers,
workplace facilities and environment, are found primarily in substances classified by
the risk they represent, as irritant, carcinogenic, mutagenic, toxic, mainly represented
by the group of solvents and amides
The paper proposes the implementation of a health and safety as a first phase allows
the delegation of responsibilities and implementation of actions to the integrated
management of chemical risks, and it is proposed the implementation of operational
controls together with the above actions throw advances in the prevention of chemical
hazards to which workers are subjected workplace.
