CARACTERIZACIÓN DE ALTERACIONES VISUALES EN PACIENTES PRÉSBITAS CON DIABETES MELLITUS EN EL HOSPITAL GENERAL DE CHILAPA DE ÁLVAREZ, GUERRERO

Cross-sectional study to characterize visual disturbances in diabetic patients in a municipality in the Guerrero state México. Methodology: VA to 6 m with and without Rx, retinoscopy at 66 cm with +1.50 lens pen neutralized by the cylindrical method, using the clock and astigmatic bichromatic tests, exploration of outsiders, direct ophthalmoscopy, determination of AT and capillary glucose fasting. Results were analyzed with measures of central tendency and post hoc Dunnett's test and Welch correction. Results: We treated 58 patients, 80% of the women, average age was 58.7 years, the prevalence of type II DM was 94.3% and 5.7% in type I, the change percent of VA and without Rx was 53 and 34% in RE and LE. 80% of the population is ametropic, the myopic refractive error was the main (40%) and hyperopes SD patients had lower VA, the prevalence of diabetic retinopathy was 51%, 1 in 4 was RDP who had AV Rx 11 times lower than that of patients with RDPP, 2 of every 5 patients had capillary blood glucose levels or below 110 mg/ml. Capillary blood glucose is higher in patients with type I.
