Resumen
The purpose of this work is to determine the relationship between degradation and navigation through the notion of environmental security in United States and Canada at the Great Lakes in conditions of complex interdependence. Hence, it analyzes the concept of environmental security from navigation, essential part to understand the bilateral relation at the system of the Great Lakes. This qualitative study responds to the developments of the three generations of the environmental security specifically based on variables suggested by Barry Buzan, Thomas Homer-Nixon, and Stephan Libiszewski, and the complex interdependence theory by Robert Keohane and Joseph Nye, towards the complex understanding of the environmental dimension far from the anthropocentric traditional definition.
