Resumen
ABSTRACT
Developing a process of analysis of the healthcare institutions (HCI) emerge as an alternative for generating institutional and sector knowledge; demarcated in knowledge production mode 2 (Gibbons, Limoges, Nowonty, Schwartzman, Scott & Trow, 1997); and as a tool for decision-making in regard to managing companies that provide health services. We consider framing this research in mode 2 of knowledge production because of its social distribution and interdisciplinary nature; this implies that knowledge is given from the relationship and interaction of multiple actors and institutions. The research was developed in the clinic Inversions Medics De Los Andes, in the sector of health care providers of Tunja respectively.
The research followed two methodologies: the structural analysis of strategic sectors (Restrepo & Rivera, 2008). - A.E.S.E and the second is the matrix model (Restrepo, 2004); which in turn is supported on the matrix Software tool . Four non-economic tools were applied in the first part; it gave us a broad and deep perception of the sector to be studied; secondly internal and external factors of the company and the sector were analyzed. As a result of this analysis new ways of addressing the HCI were identified; but above all, new ways of producing knowledge beyond the discipline and theory in a context already established.
The process for gathering information was based in the stages of the research. In the phase of A.E.S.E, the companies of the strategic sector determined the collection of data: Hospital San Rafael of Tunja, Clinica Medilaser, Clinica Saludcoop and Inversiones De los Andes. Once they were identified by their level of complexity; they were classified according to their services and operating models within the business activities ISIC codes. This information was also obtained through primary sources, such as web pages of the companies, report of the departmental secretary of health, health supervision and special register of providers from the Ministry of Social Protection (Ministry of Social Protection, 2006).
As primary input for the study of competitors ; interviews with administrative department and users of the four entities were applied. For the development of the matrix model interviews were conducted in groups Ad-hoc ; later, through the application of the four tests of structural analysis; the use of the matrix software; analysis of surveys and meetings with industry experts; as a result it is proposed a guideline for management, operation and functioning of the HCI; and the application of tools for the strategy in the health sector.
