Resumen
Introduction: Musculoskeletal disorders can be described as one of the most common causes of work-related diseases. According to different studies, absentism is associated with physical inactivity, respiratory diseases and musculoskeletal injuries are the leading causes of disability. We sought to establish the relationship between absenteeism with musculoskeletal symptoms in a specialized IPS of sexual and reproductive health, taking into account the type of work and habits in the physical activity of staff in Bogotá Methodology: A cross sectional study was conducted to evaluate the presence of musculoskeletal symptoms mentioned in the IPS, which has 4 centers in Bogotá. The assessment of musculoskeletal symptoms was performed by the "Nordic Questionnaire" and the physical activity of workers was assessed with the application of questions drawn from the National Survey of Nutritional Status (ENSIN). Using a convenience sampling a representative sample of the population was included.
Results: Drawn from a total population of 193 workers a sample of 143 health workers were included. The most common skeletal muscle symptoms were neck (48.2% ) followed by lumbar spine (45.4 %) and hand / right wrist (41.2 %). The 95.1 % of workers had some musculoskeletal symptoms , some of them with involvement of more than 1 segment.
Discussion: The frequency of musculoskeletalsymptoms was very high, in our sample respondant. Its relationship withabsenteeism showed nostatistically significant results, neither the relationship betweensymptomsand performingphysical activity. The resultswere no similar toliterature, due to the high prevalence (95.1% vs 43%) in this study compared to other similar studies.
