The complex (Fe(CN)6]3-/4- was immobilized onto a silica gel surface chemically modified with titanium(IV) oxide. The formal potential of the attached electroactive species was E0 = 175 mV vs. sce. The concentration and the nature of the supporting electrolyte had no influence on this potential, but solution pH < 2 shifted it towards higher values. An asymmetry of the current peaks (I(pc) > I(pa), where I(pc) and I(pa) are the cathodic and anodic peak currents) was observed and explained as being due to a doped n-type semiconductor behaviour of the titanium oxide coated on the silica surface.
