Thermal Efficiency Evaluation Of Shaded And Artificially Ventilated Poultry Housing In Different Orientation

The present research had the objective to determine a mathematical model associating the wss of trees shade (S), forced ventilation (V) and different-solar orientation (O) with the broiler weight gain. The research was done in distorted small scale models representing poultry buildings located in the experimental area of the Rural Building Department of FEAGRI/UNICAMP. Five models were built: two in the East - West solar orientation and three in North - South. Trees were planted to provide shade in two of the North - South oriented models for reducing the solar thermal incident radiation load in the lateral walls and roof. Fans were put in one of each model with different orientation. Incandescent bulb lamps were placed on the models floor to simulate-the heat dissipated by the 2.0 kg broiler. Climate data were collected into the models during Summer and Winter months of 1996, 1997 and 1998. In order to simulate the broiler weight gain, the "Pro-Frango" software was used. Climatic data were statistically evaluated by variance and regression analysis.
