Resumen
At Animal Science Faculty leather tanning of ESPOCH, the use of different levels of sulphited oil was evaluated for sheep leather tanning to obtain chamois, so that the experimental units (24 pieces of leather) were distributed under a Completely Simple Randomized Design. T3 (treatment 3) was identified at 16% and it was considered the most appropriate level to obtain high quality chamois which can be positioned in both national and international market. T3 (treatment 3) established by the international regulations such as (1192,35 N/cm2) tension resistance, (63,88%) elongation percentage, and (8,38 mm) lastometry. The sensorial evaluation identified the best qualifications when using sulphited oil at T3 at 16%, softness considerations (4,63 points), touch (4,88 points), and plush fineness (4,75 points), these values are considered excellent. After calculate cost-benefit ratio was obtained when using T3 whit a nominal value of 1.24, it is to say that per each dollar invested it is expected to obtain a profit of 24 cents, besides being economically profitable, it offers a great ecological alternative to substitute the phosphoric ester.
